The Competition Series is the appropriate series for Kettlebell competitions. These competitions are not about how many kilograms the athlete can lift, but how many repetitions or otherwise total kilograms (repetitions x kilograms). The manufacture of such a product requires highly specialized knowledge that very few factories possess. The AMILA Kettlebell Competition Series, due to their high quality, were used in the 2017 European Kettlebell Championship.
The competition Kettlebell is made of cast iron. Its interior is hollow. The volume of the void is different for each weight. Depending on the weight of the Kettlebell, a different material is used to fill the void. In light Kettlebells the void is filled with a mixture similar to high-density expanded polyurethane, so that it is solid and resistant to impacts. In medium weights it is filled with iron while in heavy kettlebells the void is filled with lead. So the size of the Kettlebell whether it is 8 kg or 36 remains the same. Although there is evidence that kettlebells were used by the ancient Romans and Greeks, the word “Kettlebell” or “Dram”, as the Greek name is, appeared in a Russian dictionary around the beginning of the 17th century AD. By 1948, the kettlebell had firmly entered the life of Russians and became a national sport of Russia.
